## Synopsis

Welcome to Sweden (2014-2015) is an American-produced fish out of water comedy series created by Greg Poehler for NBC and TV4. Greg Poehler stars as Bruce, a New York accountant who follows his Swedish girlfriend Emma (Josephine Bornebusch) back to her homeland, where he must learn to live among people whose manners, humor, and expectations differ sharply from his own. Lena Olin plays Emma's formidable mother Viveka, and Christopher Wagelin plays Gustaf, a fixture of the everyday social scene around them. The engine of the show is Bruce's steady stream of awkward attempts to win over his girlfriend's family, navigate Swedish workplaces, and find his footing in a foreign country. Each half hour is a small chain of misunderstandings and social misfires, played with gentle, breezy warmth rather than sharp edges. The show runs for two seasons of ten episodes each, and its tone is light, affectionate, and romantic. Set in modern Sweden, it suits viewers who enjoy culture clash humor, expatriate stories, and cozy romantic comedy in the vein of Lovesick and Episodes, with a generous, low-stakes sense of humor throughout.
