## Synopsis

Fixer Upper (2013-2018) is an American home renovation reality series created for HGTV. Hosts Chip Gaines and Joanna Gaines, a design and construction team, pair with buyers in the Waco and Dallas, Texas area who have purchased a house that is structurally or aesthetically a mess but sits in a desirable neighborhood. The engine of each episode is the gap between the buyer's budget and vision and the house as it stands: walls come down, floors are replaced, and the couple must steer a family toward a space that fits their daily lives. Across five seasons and seventy-eight episodes of roughly forty-five minutes each, the format stays the same, with each episode following one project from first walkthrough through the reveal. The tone is warm, wholesome and upbeat, with a rustic farmhouse sensibility and a gentle, hopeful optimism that makes the reveals feel rewarding. Its central appeal is the chemistry between the two hosts and the satisfaction of watching a tired house become a home. Fans of Property Brothers, Love It or List It and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition will find the same comforting makeover pleasure here.
