## Synopsis

Yakari (2005-2018) is a Belgian and French animated children's series created by Claude de Ribaupierre and produced for France 3, France 4 and France 5. Its young Sioux protagonist Yakari, voiced by Maxime Nivet, has the rare gift of speaking with animals, and his closest companion is Little Thunder, voiced by Yoann Sover. Across five seasons and 156 twelve-minute episodes, each story turns on a small problem in the life of a plains village, such as a lost animal, a rivalry or a threat to the herd, which Yakari resolves through patience and his bond with wildlife. The series is a gentle, sunlit family cartoon, with a warm and wholesome tone and a strong respect for nature and Native American daily life. Its episodic structure makes it easy to start at any point, and its quiet wonder and kindness place it in the company of Bluey and Wild Kratts for young viewers and the parents who watch with them. Its western setting is rendered as a calm, open landscape rather than a place of gunfights or conflict. Viewers searching for a gentle animal adventure for children will find it an easy, reassuring watch.
