## Synopsis

Rush (2014) is an American cable drama created by Jonathan Levine for USA Network. Tom Ellis plays Dr. William P. Rush, an unattached physician who is not tied to any hospital and takes cash-only premiums from discreet clients in Los Angeles, then parties hard with the best of them. Larenz Tate plays Dr. Alex Burke, and Rick Gonzalez plays Manny Maquis, two figures orbiting Rush's underground practice. Sarah Habel plays Eve Parker, an old flame whose return stirs Rush's long-dormant conscience. The engine of the series is a man who wants nothing to change, colliding with the people who pay him, the secrets he keeps, and the patients he cannot keep at arm's length. Each episode is built around a new client with a new ailment, and the case-by-case rhythm gradually gives way to a sharper personal reckoning. The show was a single ten-episode season, and it has a gritty, glossy, hedonistic texture that fans of Nip/Tuck and Dr. House will recognize, along with the moral murk of Ray Donovan. Its tone is wry and restless, with addiction and self-indulgence running beneath the glamour. The series ends on a cancellation rather than a finished arc, leaving its central question open.
