## Synopsis

Corpse Party: Tortured Souls (2013) is a Japanese animated horror miniseries adapted from the Corpse Party video game and aired as a four-episode limited series. Satoshi Mochida (voiced by Hiro Shimono) leads a group of Kisaragi Academy students, including Ayumi Shinozaki (Asami Imai) and Naomi Nakashima (Rina Sato), who perform a 'Sachiko Ever After' charm after a school festival. A sudden earthquake strands them in Heavenly Host, a torn-down elementary school whose bloodied past still holds its restless spirits. The engine is simple and relentless: the students search for one another and try to find a way out while the dead who were wronged there hunt them through the decaying corridors. Each episode is built around grisly set pieces, panicked escapes and small betrayals in the dark. The tone is bleak, claustrophobic and steeped in dread, with gore and tragedy foregrounded throughout. Its atmosphere recalls the cursed-school scares of Higurashi When They Cry and the mournful supernatural menace of Another, and fans of Corpse Party's original game will recognize its grim, unrelenting mood.
