## Synopsis

Emergency Couple (2014) is a South Korean medical romance series created for tvN, a single-season limited run of twenty-one hour-long episodes. Medical student Chang Min (Choi Jin-hyuk) and dietitian Jin Hee (Song Ji-hyo) marry despite his family's disdain, and the marriage sours as he gives up his internship to sell pharmaceuticals while his doctor relatives look down on her. After a painful divorce, the two are suddenly reunited as interns at the same hospital, where every shift forces them into close quarters with each other and with colleagues who complicate their history. Co-stars Lee Pil-mo, Choi Yeo-jin and Clara Lee fill out the hospital ensemble. The engine is simple and emotional: whether pride, class and old wounds can be outlasted by feelings that never fully faded. Set in contemporary Seoul hospital wards, the show moves between light bickering comedy and the heavier pressures of residency. Its tone is wistful and sincere, with a romcom warmth that will appeal to fans of Hospital Playlist, Doctor Stranger and Grey's Anatomy.
