## Synopsis

Fortitude (2015-2018) is a British Sky Atlantic crime drama series created by Simon Donald, a three-season serialized mystery with a Nordic noir sensibility. Set in the fictional Arctic town of Fortitude, a settlement so safe that it has never recorded a violent crime, the story begins when a murder shatters the fragile calm of its close-knit community. Richard Dormer plays Dan Anderssen, a central figure drawn into the investigation, alongside Sienna Guillory as Natalie Yelburton, Sofie Gråbøl as Governor Odegard, and Stanley Tucci as DCI Morton, who arrives to lead the inquiry. The engine of the show is the tension between an outsider investigation and a community protecting its own secrets, with each episode peeling back another layer of suspicion among neighbours who depend on one another to survive the brutal winter. Across three seasons the mystery expands into a larger conspiracy that tests the town's future. The atmosphere is cold, eerie and dread-filled, with long stretches of icy silence broken by sudden violence. Fans of The Killing, Broadchurch and Twin Peaks will find resonance in its brooding small town mystery and its patient, atmospheric unfolding of guilt and fear.
