## Synopsis

Falco (2013-2016) is a French crime drama series created for TF1 that follows Detective Alexandre Falco (Sagamore Stévenin), a young police officer who is shot in the head in 1991 and wakes twenty-two years later to a changed world. Where he once had a loving wife, Carole Sarda-Falco (Mathilde Lebrequier), a newborn daughter, and his dream job, he now must reconstruct a life that has moved on without him. Alongside his former partner Romain Chevalier (Clément Manuel), he takes on murder investigations in contemporary France, each case forcing him to reckon with the gap in his memory and the people who have carried on in his absence. The engine of the series is the tension between the detective's sharpened drive to solve crimes and his fractured relationship to the present, with each episode built around a fresh investigation that presses on personal wounds. Spanning four seasons and thirty one-hour episodes, the show balances procedural crime plotting with an emotionally wounded character study. Its tone is melancholic and tense, with a sense of loss threaded through the detective work. Fans of Engrenages and Life will find resonance in its blend of French police procedure and a protagonist adrift in time. The series was canceled after its fourth season, leaving its story unfinished.
