## Synopsis

Terra Formars (2014-2016) is a Japanese animated science fiction horror series created by Hiroshi Hamasaki and broadcast on TOKYO MX. Survivor Shokichi Komachi (voiced by Akira Ishida's character Joseph's counterpart, Joseph) and his crew, including Ko Honda, Marcos E. Garcia, Keiji Onizuka and Akari Hizamaru, board the spacecraft Annex 1 bound for Mars to retrieve a sample of the AE virus that is ravaging Earth. Their mission is to produce a vaccine, but the trip becomes a grim survival struggle, with an onboard accident, a multinational conspiracy and ever more advanced human-cockroach hybrids waiting on the red planet. The series runs two seasons totaling 26 episodes, with a continuing storyline rather than standalone cases, so each episode builds on the last. Set in a near future of interplanetary colonization, it leans on relentless action, creature gore and bleak claustrophobic dread, with a pulpy B-movie energy. Fans of Attack on Titan, Alien and Parasyte will find resonance in its blend of monstrous threat, survival stakes and anime spectacle. Its tone is intense and unforgiving, sustained by a steady stream of set pieces and body horror.
