## Synopsis

Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works (2014-2015) is a Japanese animated supernatural fantasy produced by ufotable and adapted from the TYPE-MOON visual novel. Set in modern Fuyuki City, it follows Shirou Emiya, an ordinary high school student who is drawn into the Holy Grail War, a secret tournament in which mages command legendary heroic spirits called servants. Rin Tohsaka, a magus heiress, reluctantly becomes his ally, and her Archer servant and Shirou's Saber fight beside them as conspiracies gather around the Grail. The emotional core is a question of identity and cost: what kind of hero Shirou wants to be and what he is willing to sacrifice to become one. Across two seasons and twenty-five episodes, ornate, spectacular battles alternate with quieter investigations into the rules of the war and the history behind the servants. The tone is earnest, dramatic and often melancholic, with grounded school life contrasting mythic violence. Viewers who enjoy elaborate magical combat and character-driven drama will find much to admire.
