## Synopsis

Grantchester (2014-present) is a British period crime drama created by Daisy Coulam for ITV1. Charismatic clergyman Sidney Chambers (James Norton) turns investigative vicar when parishioners die under suspicious circumstances, working alongside his friend, the detective Geordie Keating (Robson Green), and his fellow clergyman Alphy Kotteram (Rishi Nair). Each episode is essentially a self-contained murder case of the week, unfolding across a village and the nearby university city of Cambridge in the 1950s, with confessions, parish gossip and moral dilemmas woven through the investigations. The series runs for eleven seasons and is still airing, so its story keeps moving forward while its characters' lives gradually change. The tone is warm and gently comic, with a wistful, nostalgic atmosphere of postwar English life, though the crimes themselves carry real weight. Fans of Father Brown, Foyle's War and Midsomer Murders will find the same blend of cozy village charm and reliable mystery.
