## Synopsis

Sakura Trick (2014) is a Japanese animated romantic comedy series created as an anime adaptation of a manga and broadcast on TBS. Haruka Takayama (voiced by Haruka Tomatsu) and Yu Sonoda (voiced by Yuka Iguchi) were inseparable through middle school, but when high school seats them on opposite sides of the classroom, they begin a private habit of stealing kisses to keep their bond special. The engine of each episode is the small gap between what the two want and what their friendships and social circles allow, with classmates such as Shizuku Minami (voiced by Hiromi Igarashi) and Kotone Noda (voiced by Yuuka Aisaka) orbiting the leads and complicating their secret. The series runs a single season of twelve episodes, built from brisk everyday school episodes rather than a continuing plot. It sits within the shoujo-ai tradition of Japanese girls' love storytelling, with a light, playful and affectionate register, a suburban Japanese school setting, and an emotional focus on tentative intimacy and first longing. Fans of Yuru Yuri, Bloom Into You and Maria-sama ga Miteru will find a similar gentle, romantic school atmosphere here.
