## Synopsis

Gonna Be the Twin-Tail!! (2014) is a Japanese animated superhero parody series created for TBS, adapted from a light novel and produced by Production IMS. First-year high school student Souji Mitsuka (voiced by Nobunaga Shimazaki) is an obsessive devotee of twin-tail hairstyles, so when a girl from a parallel world named Twoearle (voiced by Maaya Uchida) hands him the power to transform, he becomes the twin-tailed warrior Tail Red (voiced by Sumire Uesaka). His goal is simple enough, protecting the peace of Earth, but the obstacles are absurd: the Ultimegil organization is attacking the planet, and Souji must keep his double life hidden while his teammates and rivals break into their own transformations. The series runs for a single twelve-episode season of short, brisk episodes built around henshin battles, gender swap jokes and genre riffs. Its tone is breezy, irreverent and self-aware, with a comic affection for sentai and magical girl conventions. Fans of Kill la Kill, Gurren Lagann and Puella Magi Madoka Magica will find a similar mix of earnest heroics and deliberate silliness. Set in present-day Japan, it is a light, cheerful romp for viewers who enjoy anime that laughs at its own genre.
