## Synopsis

Dutch Hope (2014-2020) is a Dutch crime drama series created by Franky Ribbens for VARA and BNNVARA, running three seasons and twenty-four episodes of fifty minutes each. Forensic psychiatrist Fokke Augustinus (Marcel Hensema) expects an ordinary professional life until he inherits his father's mansion in Groningen, where a criminal organization is operating a marijuana plantation on the grounds. His wife Machteld (Kim van Kooten) and son Pepijn (Martijn Lakemeier) are pulled into the danger as he tries to protect his family while navigating a world where every choice carries consequences. Dimitri Dugour (Peter van den Begin) represents the criminal pressures that tighten around the household. Each season unfolds as one continuing story, with the tension building through shifting alliances and escalating risk. The result is a tense, morally grey drama set in the Dutch countryside, with a dark tone and a sense of inherited guilt. Fans of Ozark and Breaking Bad will find resonance in its ordinary man pulled into the drug trade, while Penoza viewers will recognize its Dutch crime textures.
