## Synopsis

Marvel's Agent Carter (2015-2016) is an American period spy drama created by Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus for ABC, a two-season spinoff in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Hayley Atwell stars as Peggy Carter, a former wartime agent now marginalized in 1946 New York while working for the covert Strategic Scientific Reserve. Her engine is simple and urgent: she must handle tedious administrative duties while slipping away on secret missions for the brilliant inventor Howard Stark, all while navigating the expectations placed on a single woman in postwar America and grieving the loss of Steve Rogers. Edwin Jarvis, played by James D'Arcy, and fellow agent Daniel Sousa, played by Enver Gjokaj, provide grounded allies and friction. The show runs across eighteen episodes in a case-of-the-week format with a serialized thread running through both seasons. It is set in polished 1940s America, with careful period sets, tailored costumes and detailed camerawork shaping its look. The tone is witty and sincere, blending espionage, bruising action and wry humor with a clear-eyed look at gender and loss. Fans of Captain America: The First Avenger, The Americans and Mad Men will find resonance in its period texture and its capable female lead.
