## Synopsis

Schitt's Creek (2015-2020) is a Canadian sitcom created by Eugene Levy and Dan Levy for CBC Television. Formerly wealthy video store magnate Johnny Rose (Eugene Levy) and his soap star wife Moira (Catherine O'Hara) lose their fortune and are forced to move with their adult children David (Dan Levy) and Alexis (Annie Murphy) to Schitt's Creek, a small rural town they once bought as a joke. The engine of the show is the family's struggle to adapt to humble surroundings: the spoiled Rose clan must find work, housing in a shabby motel, and a place among eccentric locals like town clerk Stevie Budd (Emily Hampshire) and the Schitt family (Chris Elliott and Jennifer Robertson). Each episode is built from small social misadventures, romantic entanglements and comic clashes between wealth and modesty. Running six seasons across seventy-nine episodes of roughly twenty-two minutes, it is a continuing comedy with gradually deepening relationships rather than a case-of-the-week format. Its tone is warm, witty and affectionate, with a gentle satirical edge that never turns cruel. Fans of Parks and Recreation, Ted Lasso and Arrested Development will find resonance in its humor about community, class and belonging.
