## Synopsis

Battle Creek (2015) is a American network crime dramedy created by Vince Gilligan and David Shore for CBS. Josh Duhamel plays Special Agent Milton Chamberlain, an amazingly handsome, happy-go-lucky FBI agent sent to a Michigan city, where he is paired with Dean Winters as Detective Russ Agnew, a hard scrabble local homicide detective. Their polar opposite methods grind against each other as they work murder cases together, and each case forces them to tolerate the other's approach while the department's cramped workspace and small city tensions add friction. Kal Penn and Janet McTeer fill out the squad and command ranks, with Aubrey Dollar and Edward Fordham Jr. rounding out the investigative team. The show is a single season of thirteen one-hour episodes, a case-of-the-week buddy cop format with a serialized thread of growing reluctant respect between its leads. The tone is breezy and witty, with banter that keeps the mood light even when the murders are grim, and the pleasure lies in watching two incompatible professionals slowly learn to rely on each other. Fans of Lethal Weapon, Psych and Rush Hour will find the same mismatched partner energy and comic procedural rhythm here, delivered in a modern American police setting with a clear buddy cop heart.
