## Synopsis

Fresh Off the Boat (2015-2020) is an ABC single-camera family sitcom created by Nahnatchka Khan, based on Eddie Huang's memoir. Eddie Huang (Hudson Yang) is a hip-hop-loving Asian American kid growing up in suburban Orlando, and the show follows his efforts to fit in with classmates while his immigrant father Louis (Randall Park) chases American success and dreams of opening a restaurant. His mother Jessica (Constance Wu) is often bewildered by white culture yet fiercely protective of her children, and grandmother Grandma Huang (Lucille Soong) adds sharp generational humor. Across six seasons and 116 episodes, the engine is simple: a family trying to build a life in a new country while each member wrestles with ambition, belonging, and how much of their heritage to keep. Each episode is a self-contained slice of life built from school dramas, neighborhood friendships, and restaurant pressures. Set in 1990s suburban Florida, the series balances broad cultural comedy with warm, sincere family moments. Its tone is breezy and affectionate, with nostalgic touches of early hip-hop and sneaker culture. Fans of The Goldbergs, The Wonder Years and Kim's Convenience will find resonance in its blend of nostalgia, immigrant humor and tender family bonds.
