## Synopsis

Galavant (2015-2016) is a US musical fantasy comedy created by Dan Fogelman for ABC, a canceled two-season series that runs eighteen episodes. Joshua Sasse plays the dashing Prince Galavant, who loses his beloved Madalena (Mallory Jansen) to the villainous King Richard (Timothy Omundson) and sets out to win her back and restore his happily ever after. Along the way he is joined by a loyal squire, Gareth (Vinnie Jones), and encounters Isabella (Karen David), a scheming princess who complicates his plans. Each episode plays out as a short comic adventure of kingdoms, knights, and royal intrigue, with the story moving forward from one quest to the next. The show treats the fairy tale conventions of medieval kingdoms with a sincere, bouncy energy, using full musical numbers to narrate and mock the genre. The tone is brisk, playful and irreverent, with a warm affection for storybook romance beneath the satire. Fans of Shrek, Monty Python and the Holy Grail and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend will find a similar blend of goofy parody, heartfelt romance and earworm songs, all wrapped in a light and cheerful fantasy world built for an easy evening of laughs.
