## Synopsis

Barbie: Life in the Dreamhouse (2012-2015) is an American animated family comedy created by David Wiebe and released on YouTube. Barbie (voiced by Kate Higgins) and her sister Summer, her friend Midge and the rest of the household, including Ken (Sean Hankinson), go through ordinary days inside the Dreamhouse and the neighborhood around it, presented as a reality television show filmed for the camera. The engine of the series is simple: each short episode, running about three minutes, sets up a small everyday mishap, a rivalry or a bid for attention and lets it play out in a few quick scenes. Its seven seasons form a long run of standalone sketches rather than one continuing storyline, so viewers can dip in at any point. The comedy is built on parody, lampooning the conventions of reality TV and the Barbie franchise itself, with characters breaking the fourth wall and winking at the audience. The mood is bright, breezy and playful, glossy pink 3d animation wrapped around a self-aware sense of humor. Fans of The Amazing World of Gumball and My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic will find a similar blend of kid-friendly animation and knowing, playful satire.
