## Synopsis

Man Seeking Woman (2015-2017) is an American absurdist romantic sitcom created by Simon Rich for FXX. Jay Baruchel plays Josh Greenberg, a naive romantic whose longtime girlfriend dumps him, sending him into a dating scene he experiences as a nightmarish hellscape. Eric André plays his chaotic friend Mike Scaggs, and Britt Lower plays Liz Greenberg, a sharp-tongued presence in Josh's orbit. Each short episode of roughly twenty-three minutes follows Josh through a fresh string of disastrous dates, bizarre encounters and humiliating misadventures, with the engine being his stubborn hope that the right person is out there and that the suffering will eventually be worth it. The three-season run has a loose continuing thread but plays mostly as an episodic comedy of recurring setbacks. The tone is cringe-heavy, surreal and deadpan, with a sardonic edge that never fully drowns the sweetness of its lead. Its New York City single life is rendered with exaggerated, nightmarish energy. Fans of Catastrophe, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Crashing will find resonance in its blend of romantic longing, awkward comedy and modern dating satire.
