## Synopsis

Banana (2015) is a British anthology drama series created by Russell T Davies for E4. Across eight standalone 23-minute episodes, it follows different LGBT characters in Manchester as they navigate love, longing, family pressure and loss. Scotty, a young lesbian, is caught in an unrequited romance, while Dean, a man keeping family secrets, pursues an affair with a mysterious man from Newcastle. Sian is torn between her lover and her overprotective mother, and Helen is haunted by an ex who refuses to let go. Each episode gives its own character room to breathe, so the season builds a mosaic of queer lives rather than one continuing plot. The tone is intimate and sincere, with moments of quiet humour and a steady undercurrent of heartache. Viewers hoping for a warm, honest look at contemporary queer relationships in a British city will find it rewarding. Fans of Cucumber and Queer as Folk will find resonance in its frank, character-first approach to sexuality and belonging. Only one season was produced, making it a compact, self-contained watch.
