## Synopsis

Suburbia - Women on the Edge (2015-2022) is an Austrian comedy drama series created by Uli Brée for ORF 1 and Das Erste. Five women living in an affluent Vienna suburb, among them Maria Schneider (Gerti Drassl), Waltraud Steinberg (Maria Köstlinger) and Nicoletta Huber (Nina Proll), seem to have everything, yet their supposedly perfect marriages, friendships and social standing keep unraveling beneath the polished surface. The engine of the show is the gap between appearance and reality: each character schemes to protect her reputation while private frustrations spill into dinner parties, neighborhood gossip and family rivalries. Across six seasons of roughly ten episodes each, the show moves with brisk, ironic wit and an undercurrent of melancholy. Its tone blends satire of bourgeois pretension with genuine warmth toward its flawed protagonists. Set in a contemporary Vienna suburb, it captures the quiet competition of a golden cage. Fans of Desperate Housewives, Big Little Lies and Succession will find resonance in its satirical portrait of privileged women.
