## Synopsis

Shadows (2014-2019) is a Romanian crime drama series created for HBO Europe, a three-season serialized thriller that runs for 21 episodes. Șerban Pavlu plays Relu Oncescu, an ordinary-seeming taxi driver and devoted family man whose life splits in two: at home with his wife Gina (Maria Obretin) and children, and in the underworld as a collector for a local mobster named Capitanu'. Neither world knows the other exists, and Relu works hard to keep them apart. The engine of the series is concealment under mounting pressure. Each episode tightens the gap between his family's trust and his criminal obligations, and after one accidental killing he tries to walk away from the criminal world but finds the door has closed behind him. Andi Vasluianu plays Codrin, a figure tied to the criminal side of Relu's life. The show unfolds as one continuing story across its seasons, with secrets surfacing one by one. Set in contemporary Romania, it has a tense, claustrophobic, morally bleak register, with dread building in ordinary domestic and urban spaces. Fans of Breaking Bad, The Sopranos and Ozark will find resonance in its slow-burn descent and the cost of a double life.
