## Synopsis

Younger is a light American comedy-drama created by Darren Star that follows Liza Miller, a newly single stay-at-home mother in her forties who, finding the job market closed to her, claims to be 26 and lands an assistant position at Empirical Press, a Manhattan publishing house full of millennials. Sutton Foster plays Liza with warmth and comic timing, while Debi Mazar as her best friend Maggie is the only person who knows the secret. Hilary Duff's younger colleague adds rivalry and pressure to the office. The engine of the show is the growing effort to maintain the lie: dodging questions about her past, keeping up with trends, and navigating romance. Across seven seasons, episodes are self-contained workplace stories with the deception running as a continuing thread. The mood is breezy, witty and comforting, with an undercurrent of wistfulness about reinvention and ageism. Fans of Sex and the City, The Devil Wears Prada and Ugly Betty will find familiar pleasures in its glossy Manhattan setting, its friendships and its career comedy.
