## Synopsis

Aesthetica of a Rogue Hero (2012) is a Japanese anime isekai series created for AT-X, adapted from a light novel. Akatsuki Ousawa (Nobuhiko Okamoto) returns from the fantasy world of Alayzard carrying powers he gained there, bringing with him the defeated Demon King's daughter Miu (Yoko Hikasa), who pretends to be his sister to hide her identity. Together they enroll at Babel, a school for inter-dimensional travelers, where the student council stands between them and the truth behind the institution. Supporting characters including Kuzuha Doumoto (Kana Hanazawa), Chikage Izumi (Kana Ueda) and Kyoya Hikami (Takahiro Sakurai) fill out the cast. Each of the twelve episodes of this single season runs about 24 minutes and mixes school battles, supernatural power displays and bawdy harem comedy with a steady undercurrent of secrecy and mistrust. The tone is playful and irreverent, with fan service and crude humor sitting alongside action. Fans of High School DxD and Gate will find familiar territory, and viewers who enjoy Re:Zero's returned-hero premise may also find resonance here. The show is set in a modern-day Japanese school framed around a world of portals and returnees.
