## Synopsis

The Team (2015-2018) is a German-Austrian-Danish-Belgian co-produced nordic noir crime drama series created by Peter Thorsboe and Mai Brostrøm for ZDF and DR1. After a string of murders of prostitutes at a motorway stop near Berlin, in an Antwerp courtyard and in a Copenhagen brothel, Europol assembles a taskforce of Danish investigator Harald Bjorn (Lars Mikkelsen), German officer Jackie Mueller (Jasmin Gerat) and Belgian detective Alice, played by Lynn Van Royen as Paula Liekens, to chase a killer across borders. The engine of the show is the gradual realization that each murder is only the visible edge of a sprawling pan-European criminal organization handling drugs, financial crime, hired killings, illegal labor and people trafficking. Each episode moves the team through new cities, informants and bureaucratic obstacles, with jurisdictional rivalries and personal strain pressing on them. The serialized story runs across two seasons of eight episodes each, and its mood is bleak, procedural and rain-dimmed, with a contemporary European setting rendered in cold urban locations. Fans of The Bridge, The Killing and Spiral will find the same cross-border dread and methodical investigation here.
