## Synopsis

Seraph of the End (2015) is a Japanese anime series produced by WIT STUDIO and broadcast on TOKYO MX, adapted from a manga and built as a shonen dark fantasy. Twelve-year-old Yuichiro Hyakuya (voiced by Miyu Irino) and his best friend Mikaela Hyakuya (voiced by Kensho Ono) are orphans in a ruined Japan where a virus has wiped out most of humanity and vampires keep the survivors as livestock. After Yuichiro becomes the only orphan to escape, he joins the Moon Demon Company, an extermination unit of the Japanese Imperial Demon Army. The engine of the series is the pull between a boy's loyalty to the friend he left behind and the brutal training and combat that turns him into a soldier. Each episode is built from action set pieces, squad missions against vampire forces, and the uneasy alliances of a unit that trusts few people. Guren Ichinose (Yuichi Nakamura) and Ferid Bathory (Takahiro Sakurai) add further principal figures. The two-season run spans 24 episodes. The tone is grim and emotional, with bursts of spectacle and camaraderie. Fans of Attack on Titan and Blue Exorcist will find resonance in its blend of monster warfare and teenage fighters.
