## Synopsis

Impastor (2015-2016) is a United States cable comedy-drama series created by Christopher Vane for TV Land. Michael Rosenbaum stars as Buddy Dobbs, a slacker on the run from a loan shark who steals a man's identity and bluffs his way into becoming the new pastor of a small town's congregation. Sara Rue plays Dora Winston and David Rasche plays Alden Schmidt, principal figures whose suspicions and loyalties constantly threaten to expose the lie. The engine of the show is simple and relentless: every sermon, church event and parish problem becomes another test of whether Buddy can keep his invented life intact while dodging the creditors chasing him. Each episode is built around a fresh scrape of deception, improvised counseling and small town politics. The series runs for two seasons of ten episodes each, a single continuing story rather than a case of the week. Its tone is irreverent and sardonic, with an affectionate, mischievous look at faith, community and the absurdity of playing a role one does not believe in. Fans of Hustle, Nurse Jackie and Dirty Sexy Money will find resonance in its blend of con artistry, bawdy humor and sincere small town warmth.
