## Synopsis

The New Adventures of Lucky Luke (2001-2003) is a French-Canadian animated comic western series created by Olivier Jean-Marie, Morris and René Goscinny for France 3. Its wandering cowboy Lucky Luke, the gunslinger who draws faster than his own shadow, rides the famously clever Jolly Jumper and is shadowed by the famously dim Rantanplan, a dog of unmatched stupidity. The engine of each adventure is simple: Lucky Luke rides into a frontier town where crime and injustice have taken hold, most often in the form of the bumbling Dalton brothers, whose schemes repeatedly collapse under their own incompetence. The series runs as a single season of 52 episodes, each about twenty-two minutes, with self-contained case-by-case stories rather than one continuing arc. Its atmosphere is sunny, playful and gently absurd, with slapstick timing and a warm, buoyant comedy that keeps the Wild West feeling lively rather than dangerous. Set in an invented version of the nineteenth-century American frontier, it draws on the tradition of the classic Morris comic strip. Fans of Lucky Luke (1991), Tom and Jerry and Rango will find resonance in its blend of cartoon slapstick and western mythmaking.
