## Synopsis

Dark Matter (2015-2017) is a Canadian space opera series created by Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie for Syfy and Space. The story follows six people who wake from stasis aboard a derelict ship with their memories wiped, led by the crew member known only as One (Marc Bendavid) alongside Two (Melissa O'Neil), Three (Anthony Lemke), Four (Alex Mallari Jr.), and the android Zoie Palmer plays as The Android. Their engine is simple and compelling: they must uncover who they were while a cargo bay full of weapons and a destination at a remote mining colony pull them toward a looming war. Each episode mixes sharp action set pieces with clues about buried identities, and the three seasons of roughly thirteen episodes each build a serialized mystery that trades on dark humor and morally slippery characters. The tone is brisk and irreverent, playful about its criminal crew yet tense whenever the past intrudes. Shot with a lived-in spaceship aesthetic and a steady pulse of combat, the show sits comfortably beside Firefly and Stargate SG-1 for viewers who enjoy ensemble space adventure, while fans of Battlestar Galactica will find similar pleasure in crews with secrets. It ends on an open question, and its cancellation leaves the central mystery hanging.
