## Synopsis

Plastic Memories (2015) is a Japanese animated science fiction romance series produced by Doga Kobo, a single season of thirteen twenty-four-minute episodes that aired on TOKYO MX. Eighteen-year-old Tsukasa Mizugaki (voiced by Yasuaki Takumi) takes a job at the SAI Corporation, which manufactures Giftia, androids with human emotions. He is assigned to the terminal service department, a grim unit that recovers Giftias nearing their expiration. His partner is Isla (voiced by Sora Amamiya), a Giftia who has been given nothing to do but serve tea to coworkers. The engine of the show is their growing bond against a ticking clock, as each episode brings a new retrieval case that tests what it means to care for a being with a limited lifespan. The story unfolds in a near future Japan of offices, city streets and everyday routines, with the calm of slice of life storytelling giving way to quiet grief. The tone is tender, wistful and sincere, blending gentle romance with melancholy about memory and loss. Fans of Time of Eve, Her and Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex will find resonance in its humane treatment of artificial minds and its bittersweet emotional register.
