## Synopsis

Locked Up (2015-2019) is a Spanish crime drama series created by Álex Pina, Daniel Écija, Iván Escobar and Esther Martínez Lobato, produced by Globomedia and aired on FOX España and Antena 3. Macarena Ferreiro (Maggie Civantos) is set up to take the blame for corporate fraud and locked up in a high-security women's prison, where she must survive among tough, ruthless inmates. Najwa Nimri plays Zulema Zahir, a formidable prisoner whose power and loyalties shape the fight for control of the cellblock, while Carlos Hipólito plays Leopoldo Ferreiro, whose outside maneuvering ties the prison to the fraud at the heart of the story. Each season is built on one continuing storyline in which alliances shift, guards are compromised and every inmate has something to hide. Across four seasons the story keeps tightening its grip, moving from one prison crisis to the next with a steady pulse of tension and raw confrontation. The atmosphere is gritty and provocative, with claustrophobic corridors and simmering hostility. Fans of Orange Is the New Black and Prison Break will find resonance in its focus on female prison politics, institutional corruption and the struggle to stay alive. Its tone is tense, intimate and emotionally intense, with a strong sense of character conflict and survival at every turn.
