## Synopsis

Helen of Troy (2003) is a American two-part historical miniseries created for USA Network, a mythological epic drama retelling the ancient Greek legend. Paris of Troy (Matthew Marsden) travels to Sparta on a diplomatic mission and falls for Helen (Sienna Guillory), wife of King Menelaus (James Callis). Their secret flight back to Troy releases the bloody seeds of a long war that King Agamemnon (Rufus Sewell) has been quietly cultivating, fulfilling an old prophecy. Priam (John Rhys-Davies), Hecuba (Maryam D'Abo), Hector (Daniel Lapaine) and Cassandra (Emilia Fox) orbit the royal court of Troy, while Achilles (Joe Montana) and Odysseus (Nigel Whitmey) appear among the warriors gathering for battle. Told across two long episodes of roughly 89 minutes each, the story moves through palace intrigue, passionate romance, and brutal martial conflict. Its tone is lush and melodramatic, with tragic romance and dark ambition driving the narrative. Fans of Troy and Spartacus will find resonance in its blend of sweeping ancient spectacle and doomed love.
