## Synopsis

The Life & Times of Tim (2008-2012) is an American adult animated comedy series created by Steve Dildarian for HBO. Its hapless protagonist Tim, voiced by Dildarian, is a mid-twenties man living in New York City with his girlfriend Amy, voiced by MJ Otto. Tim's engine is simple and relentless: he wants to get through an ordinary day at work and in his relationship without humiliating himself, and every short episode shows the ways that plan collapses. Episodes are roughly twelve minutes long and self-contained, so each one is a fresh run of awkward encounters with coworkers, friends and strangers, sustained across three seasons and sixty episodes. Nick Kroll voices the self-absorbed Stu, Matt Johnson plays the rude Rodney, and Peter Giles voices the Boss, whose exasperation adds to the office misery. The stick-figure style is crude and minimal, and the humor is blunt, sexual and profane, with a sour, deadpan edge. Fans of Curb Your Enthusiasm and Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist will find a similar appetite for uncomfortable social comedy, while the bleak city-dwelling tone and the cynical, self-sabotaging protagonist give the show its distinctive bite and a quietly melancholic undertow.
