## Synopsis

The Muppets (2015-2016) is an American mockumentary sitcom created by Bill Prady and Bob Kushell for ABC. Its single season of sixteen episodes follows Kermit, Miss Piggy, Gonzo and Fozzie Bear as they pursue careers, romance and rivalries behind the scenes of a television production. Voiced by Steve Whitmire as Kermit, Eric Jacobson as Miss Piggy, and Dave Goelz as Gonzo, the characters are filmed by a documentary crew that catches their breakups, achievements and disappointments. Each episode is built from workplace squabbles, staged confessionals and celebrity guest appearances in which real personalities play themselves, from Josh Groban to Jay Leno and Elizabeth Banks. The engine of the show is the tension between the Muppets' ambitions and the chaos of making a live broadcast with their own egos in the way. The tone is warm and cheeky, with sly irreverence aimed at adults while staying gentle enough for families. Fans of The Office, Parks and Recreation and The Muppet Show will find resonance in its blend of sincere heart, fourth wall jokes and affectionate satire of showbiz. The season was canceled after one run, so the story ends with its arcs left open.
