## Synopsis

Complications (2015) is an American crime drama created by Matt Nix for USA Network. Suburban ER doctor John Ellison (Jason O'Mara) is a disillusioned physician whose ordinary routine shatters when he intervenes in a drive-by shooting, saving a young boy and killing one of the attackers. Having learned the child is still marked for death, John is compelled to protect him at any cost, and the engine of the series is his collision between the clinical discipline of the emergency room and the improvised violence of street-level retaliation. Gretchen Polk (Jessica Szohr) and Dr. Bridget O'Neill (Lauren Stamile) are among the principal figures around him, while Samantha Ellison (Beth Riesgraf) anchors his home life. Each episode builds around a fresh threat and a new medical emergency, with the boy's safety pulling the story forward across its single season of ten episodes. The tone is tense and hard-edged, with a bleak undercurrent of moral strain and a restless, urban-tinged atmosphere. Fans of Chicago Med, 24 and Nip/Tuck will find resonance in its blend of hospital procedure, gritty stakes and a doctor pushed past professional boundaries. The series was canceled with its story left open, so its central conflict remains unsettled.
