## Synopsis

Scream: The TV Series (2015-2019) is a US MTV teen slasher mystery series created by Jay Beattie, Dan Dworkin, Jill E. Blotevogel and Brett Matthews for MTV and VH1. Set in the high school community of Lakewood, the story follows Emma Duval (Willa Fitzgerald) as a viral online video stirs up trouble among her classmates and a murder cracks open the town's troubled past. Connor Weil plays Will Belmont, Bex Taylor-Klaus plays Audrey Jensen, and Carlson Young plays Brooke Maddox, all teenagers pulled into a web of lies where everyone keeps secrets and everyone is a suspect. The engine is a whodunit that keeps the killer's identity shifting while the students try to protect their own reputations and survive the next attack. Across three seasons and twenty-nine episodes, the show runs as a serialized slasher with a steady drumbeat of kills, red herrings and reveals. Its tone is glossy, sardonic and self-aware, pitched between brutal horror and teen soap melodrama. Fans of Pretty Little Liars, Riverdale and the original Scream film will find the same mix of masked menace, adolescent scandal and genre winking. The series was canceled after its third season, leaving its mystery unresolved.
