## Synopsis

3x3 Eyes (1991-1996) is a Japanese animated supernatural action series adapted from a manga, produced by Studio Junio and Toei Animation as an original video animation run. It follows student Yakumo Fuuji (voiced by Takeshi Aono's peers in the cast, with Megumi Hayashibara voicing the immortal Pai Ayanokodzi) who, after a strange series of events, becomes the immortal slave of Pai, the last of a race of three-eyed immortals. Pai absorbed his soul to save his life, which made him immortal too, so the two set out together searching for a way for him to become human again. Their journey is driven by constant danger from monsters and rival immortals, and each stop brings new fights and new complications. Pai's split personality, one side achingly cute and the other a no-nonsense force of destruction, gives the story its emotional tension, as the romance between the two develops awkwardly alongside the violence. The tone blends playful romance with dark horror and bloody action, with a dreamy, mythic atmosphere. Fans of Hellsing, Vampire Hunter D and Ranma 1/2 will find resonance in its mix of supernatural battle and quirky love story. The series is short, spanning seven episodes across two seasons, and it is a compact, fully animated OVA experience.
