## Synopsis

Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors (1985-1986) is a French animated science fiction action series created by J. Michael Straczynski and Jean Chalopin for TF1, produced with DIC and ICC TV Productions. Its single season of 65 twenty-minute episodes follows Jayce, a teenage pilot who leads the Lightning League, a band of white and silver armed vehicles that patrols a wider galaxy. Opposing him are the Monster Minds, organic green creatures that take the shape of black and green vehicles and travel across interstellar space on large vines. Their leader Saw Boss sends the invaders to sprout seeds that grow into more of their kind, so each episode is built around a clash of machines that rolls from one skirmish to the next. Supporting characters including Gillian, Flora and Herc Stormsailor, voiced by Darrin Baker, Charles Jolliffe, Valerie Politis and Len Carlson, give the team its warmth. The tone is bright, earnest and uncomplicated, with a clear moral line between heroes and monsters. Its look is colourful and toy-driven, the sort of 1980s kids' action cartoon that appeals to fans of Transformers and Voltron, Defender of the Universe.
