## Synopsis

Shin Captain Tsubasa (1989-1990) is a Japanese animated sports series created by Yoichi Takahashi, adapted from his manga and produced with Shueisha and movic. Set in a fictional world of youth soccer, it follows the gifted young striker Oozora Tsubasa, voiced by Akari Hibino, alongside teammates such as Hyuuga Kojiro (Hirotaka Suzuoki), goalkeeper Wakabayashi Genzo (Koichi Hashimoto) and defender Wakashimazu Ken (Nobuo Tobita). The engine of the series is a national youth squad's push through the U-16 World Cup in France, where Japan must survive tough friendly matches in Germany and then a string of demanding knockout games against Italian and French top players. Each episode is built around concrete match play, tactical setups, and individual rivalries, with the team's ambition steadily rising toward a final against a formidable German side. The single season of thirteen half-hour episodes moves briskly and carries an earnest, energetic tone of teamwork, pride and determination. Its look is bright and kinetic, the classic shonen sports anime style. Fans of Captain Tsubasa, Inazuma Eleven and Haikyu!! will find resonance here.
