## Synopsis

The Scholar Who Walks the Night (2015) is a South Korean fantasy romance series created for MBC and grounded in a Joseon dynasty setting. Lee Joon-gi plays Kim Sung-yeol, a scholar who has become a vampire and is determined to find a century-old book that will let him take revenge on an evil vampire. Lee Yu-bi plays Jo Yang-sun, a woman whose path crosses his as the romance develops across the court. Max Changmin plays Lee Yeon, and Lee Soo-hyuk plays Gwi, both adding to the supernatural rivalries that tangle the royal palace. Kim So-eun plays Choi Hye-ryung, whose double identity adds emotional complication. The series runs for a single season of twenty one-hour episodes, combining a historical romance with a vampire mystery. Each episode moves between tender, lingering glances and tense encounters with the undead, and the pacing of the central quest can feel uneven. The tone mixes wistful longing with eerie court intrigue, creating an atmosphere of secrecy, danger and forbidden desire. Viewers who enjoy Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo, Mr. Sunshine and vampire fantasy romances will find a similar blend of period drama and supernatural passion.
