## Synopsis

D-Day Sacrifice (2014) is a Canadian war documentary miniseries created by Frederic Lumiere, Daniel Costelle and Isabelle Clarke for National Geographic Channel. Across two 45-minute episodes, it assembles re-mastered and colorised archive footage from World War II, much of it never seen before, to chart the story of the Allied landings in Normandy. Rather than a conventional narrator-driven lecture, the series is built from testimony: the voices of Dwight D. Eisenhower and Erwin Rommel are interwoven with those of ordinary people, including filmmaker Samuel Fuller and Eisenhower's chauffeur Kay Summersby, whose accounts are voiced by Kristin Scott Thomas, while Lambert Wilson narrates. The story moves from the preparations for the invasion through to the liberation of Paris, following French civilians and soldiers fighting on both sides.
