## Synopsis

Shimoneta: A Boring World Where the Concept of Dirty Jokes Doesn't Exist (2015) is a Japanese animated comedy series created for AT-X, adapted from a light novel and produced by J.C.STAFF. Set in a future Japan where a Law for Public Order and Morals has banned coarse language, the story follows Tanukichi Okuma (Yusuke Kobayashi), a new student at an elite public morals school who is blackmailed by the founder of an underground resistance group, Ayame Kajou (Shizuka Ishigami). He is forced to commit obscene acts of sabotage against Anna Nishikinomiya (Miyu Matsuki), the student council president he has a crush on. The engine is a steady stream of escalating, crude gags as the group pushes against a prim, rule-bound institution. Across a single twelve-episode season, each installment is a self-contained run of absurd pranks threaded with a light romance and a satirical jab at censorship. The tone is brash, irreverent and cheerfully vulgar, with a deliberate contrast between formal school decorum and profane mischief. Fans of Gintama and Ikkitousen will find resonance in its raunchy, parodic energy, and readers of Fahrenheit 451 will recognize its censorship satire.
