Audience reception is mixed, with viewers finding the premise of a suave bachelor suddenly becoming a grandfather a light, amiable sitcom that is pleasant but not especially distinctive.

## Synopsis

Grandfathered (2015-2016) is a American network multi-camera sitcom created by Daniel Chun for FOX. Successful restaurateur Jimmy Martino (John Stamos) has built his life around being the most suave, most handsome and most single man in any room, until his adult son Gerald (Josh Peck) and baby granddaughter Edie appear on his doorstep. Each episode of this single season runs about 22 minutes and turns on the collision between Jimmy's luxurious bachelor habits and the demands of raising a baby he never planned for. Paget Brewster plays Sara, and Christina Milian, Kelly Jenrette and Ravi Patel round out the principal cast as friends and colleagues who are drawn into the chaos. The engine of the show is the comic gap between Jimmy's vanity and the practical reality of diapers, family obligations and a son who needs him. Stories stay mostly self-contained within a single season, with the running thread being Jimmy slowly learning to let go of selfishness. The tone is breezy, warm and sardonic, with the feel of a classic network family sitcom. Fans of Who's the Boss?, Three Men and a Baby and Happy Endings will find familiar pleasures here, in a bright, light-hearted family comedy.
