## Synopsis

School-Live! (2015) is a Japanese anime horror series produced by Lerche for AT-X, adapted from a manga and running for a single twelve-episode season. Yuki Takeya (voiced by Inori Minase) and her classmates Kurumi Ebisuzawa (Ari Ozawa), Yuri Wakasa (Mao Ichimichi) and Miki Naoki (Rie Takahashi) decide to stay overnight at their school, only to find themselves the final survivors of a zombie attack. Alongside their adviser Megumi Sakura (Ai Kayano), they try to keep ordinary school life going, with classes, club activities and everyday routines, while the undead press against the gates and supplies run thin. The engine of the show is the tension between that cheerful domesticity and constant peril, as each episode builds small routines and friendships against the threat of the outside world. The cheerful slice of life surface carries a steady undercurrent of dread, loss and isolation, making the mood bittersweet and unsettling. Set in a present-day Japanese high school, it is a single continuing story rather than a case of the week. Fans of Higurashi When They Cry, The Walking Dead and Highschool of the Dead will find resonance in its blend of bright youth and apocalyptic horror.
