## Synopsis

Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo (1979-1984) is an American animated mystery comedy produced for ABC by Hanna-Barbera Cartoons and Ruby-Spears Enterprises, created by Ken Spears, Joe Ruby, William Hanna and Joseph Barbera. Scooby-Doo, the cowardly Great Dane voiced by Don Messick, and his nervous friend Shaggy Rogers, voiced by Casey Kasem, join Fred Jones (Frank Welker) and Velma Dinkley (Patricia Stevens) to chase down a new mystery in nearly every episode. The engine is simple and playful: a team of meddling teenagers and their dog investigate eerie-seeming crimes, chase suspects through a haunted-looking setting, and corner a costumed villain who is unmasked at the end as an ordinary schemer. Across six seasons and 167 episodes, the case-of-the-week format rarely changes, but the arrival of Scrappy-Doo, the brash, energetic nephew voiced by Lennie Weinrib, injects a louder, more frantic comic energy into the group. The tone is breezy, goofy and reassuring, with slapstick chases and gentle scares that never linger. Fans of Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!, The Flintstones and The Secret Saturdays will find the same blend of kid-friendly mystery and playful Saturday morning comedy.
