## Synopsis

Moonbeam City (2015) is a US adult animated police comedy created for Comedy Central, a single-season absurdist cop extravaganza of ten roughly 23-minute episodes that was canceled after its run. Undercover detective Dazzle Novak, voiced by Rob Lowe, is a handsome idiot who commits more crimes than the criminals he chases, and his tyrannical chief Pizzaz Miller, voiced by Elizabeth Banks, refuses to let him slide. Hotshot rookie Red Cunningham, voiced by Will Forte, is eager to watch Dazzle fail, while Chrysalis Tate, voiced by Kate Mara, adds another sharp presence to the station. The engine of each episode is simple: Dazzle stumbles into a case, causes chaos, and is forced to do actual police work in a city that feels like a neon pastel dream. Set in a retro-futuristic version of the 1980s, the show is built from stylized chases, sight gags, and heightened bursts of violence and sex played for laughs. Its tone is breezy, irreverent, and deliberately overblown, with a glossy look that owes a debt to 1980s cop movies and slapstick animation. Fans of Brooklyn Nine-Nine and the absurdist energy of Reboot will find resonance here.
