## Synopsis

Mar de plástico (2015-2016) is a Spanish crime mystery drama series created by Juan Carlos Cueto, Rocío Martínez, Alberto Manzano and Pablo Tébar, broadcast by Antena 3. Set in a town in southern Spain surrounded by sprawling plastic greenhouses, the story follows a local police officer, Héctor (Rodolfo Sancho), as he investigates the murder of a young woman whose death exposes the fault lines between the landowning families and the migrant workers who keep the farms running. Belén López, Miquel Fernández and Luis Fernández play principal figures whose lives tangle with the case, and Nya de la Rubia, Patrick Criado and Pedro Casablanc widen the web of suspects and loyalties. Each episode turns over another layer of the investigation, with the policeman pushing against the closed ranks of a village that prefers its secrets buried. The series is a two-season serialized drama with a sustained, simmering tension that never fully releases, and its atmosphere of heat, dust and suspicion gives it a bleak, morally weighted register. Fans of Broadchurch, Top of the Lake and The Killing will find resonance in its rural setting, its slow-burn investigation and its close look at a community divided by class and race.
