## Synopsis

Li'l Quinquin (2014) is a French national-television crime comedy miniseries created by Bruno Dumont for ARTE. Across four 43-minute episodes, the story follows a murder investigation that begins when human body parts are discovered stuffed inside a cow on the outskirts of a small channel town in northern France. Bernard Pruvost plays the investigator Van Der Weyden, working alongside Philippe Jore as Carpentier, while Alane Delhaye plays the young title character P'tit Quinquin and Lucy Caron plays Eve Terrier. The engine of the show is a slow, methodical hunt for answers in a community of eccentric locals, where petty rivalries, awkward adolescence, and bored police work play out against the flat, windswept countryside. Its tone is deadpan and absurd, with sudden jolts of grim violence that undercut the comedy. The atmosphere is melancholic and oddly tender, with long, still shots that let small moments hang. Fans of Twin Peaks and Fargo will find resonance in its blend of rural eccentricity, dark humor, and criminal dread.
